October 31, 1988 - WHMIS was created

3 Rights
- The Right to Know
- The Right To Refuse Unsafe Work
- The Right to Participate

Refusing Work
- Your Responsibility to tell your boss its unsafe.
- Employer's responsibility to correct the problem after told.
- You cannot be punished if refusing unsafe work.

WHMIS Label's

Gives you information about safe handling

- Product Identification
- Hazard Symbols
- Border
- Risk Phrases and Precautions
- First Aid, Supplier Information
- Safe Handling Precautions
- Reference MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet)
- Must be in two languages

NFPA - National Fire Protection Agency

Blue: Health Hazard
Red: Flammability
Yellow: Reactive

0 = Minimal or no Hazard
1 = Slight Hazard
2 = Moderate Hazard
3 = Serious Hazard
4 = Severe Hazard

Fire W Line - Flammable
Fire W an O - Oxidizing Material
Skull N' Crossbones - Poisonous & Infectious
T - Toxic - Long Term Effects
Devil's Steering Wheel - Biohazardous and Infectious

  1. This is only a very small part of all the education that workers can get through whmis online courses. Aside from the knowledge, it will also give them success in career and security as a lot of company's and organization's are prioritizing workers with this kind of certification.
